first time home buyer, braden shares his adventure
Part 4 – Sold and Moved In!
As a first time home buyer on this huge adventure, Braden has agreed to share his scariest thoughts/worries about home buying and taking on a mortgage. It will be fun to capture his perspective. In this post we’ll talk with our new home owner and how the final step, possession day, went.
house hunting Update
We last left Braden waiting for everything to come together in finalizing his new home purchase, which entailed a trip to the lawyer to sign the final documents.
Colleen: Braden, how was the process of finding and working with your lawyer.
Braden: Finding a lawyer wasn’t very difficult. But finding a lawyer at a decent price was another story. I contacted several lawyers and was floored by what the legal fees would cost. I finally found a lawyer that had a reasonable rate after a handful of phone calls. I was shocked to find out that the sellers of the house were using the same lawyer. I was able to use a different lawyer within the same firm to keep the low price I had found.
the Real Property Report (RPR)
Real property reports are a very important component of the offer to purchase. When we last left Braden he was waiting for the report to be completed on his new property.
Colleen: Braden, did you have an opportunity to review the RPR? Any issues??
Braden: The lawyer had the completed RPR for me. No issues with the property at all!
This is the day when realization hits! Getting the keys to your very own property is such an exciting time.
Colleen: Braden, so how did your walk through on possession day go?
Braden: No surprises on possession day. In the days that followed I defiantly started to realize there aren’t enough hours in the day to get stuff done around the house.
Braden, we so appreciate you taking the time to keep us posted throughout the home buying adventure, thank you. Do you have any last words for folks looking to take the step into home ownership?
Braden: As a first time home buyer I was very intimidated by the whole home purchasing process. I would tell others to be patient and do your research. The whole process is very exciting and enjoyable when you work with good people.
